With the new year comes your opportunity to help lead U.S. Co-ops’s efforts to develop, advance and protect cooperatives in the U.S. and around the world by seeking nomination to U.S. Co-ops’s Board of Directors.
The board has five open seats this election cycle. Members of U.S. Co-ops who are interested in running to become a director should complete and submit this Nomination Form with requested supplemental material to the Nominating Committee no later than February 21, 2025. An U.S. Co-ops board-appointed Nominating Committee, composed of members of the U.S. Co-ops Board of Directors, will review all nominations to verify the candidates’ eligibility per the association’s bylaws. To be eligible for election, a candidate must be either a director or a delegate of a Cooperative Member, Associate Member or an individual member of U.S. Co-ops in good standing. Fiscal Year 2025 members in good standing are available to review here. Any further questions about that list should be directed to [email protected].
By March 4, 2025, the Nominating Committee will present to the U.S. Co-ops membership a slate of candidates. The slated candidates’ biographical sketches, candidate statements and photographs will be published on the U.S. Co-ops website and in Co-op Weekly. The information will also be posted in the online election system administered by Simply Voting.
As you consider running for the board, note that U.S. Co-ops emphasizes the importance of diversity in the board’s composition as well as U.S. Co-ops’s vision to build a more inclusive economy through cooperatives. Please include your experience and commitment to equity and inclusion in your materials.
The online election will open on March 11 and close on April 8. During this period U.S. Co-ops Cooperative Members in good standing will be able to cast their votes.
U.S. Co-ops’s Board of Directors election is handled electronically through Simply Voting, a secure, cost-effective and environmentally responsible online platform for election services.
The election results will be announced at U.S. Co-ops’s Annual Membership Meeting and Town Hall, which will be held on May 6, 2025. The Annual Meeting will be held virtually, with an option for members to be together in person at U.S. Co-ops headquarters in Washington, DC.
